A New Look and Better Documentation

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

You may have noticed some changes to the Metamolecular company website in the last few days. The entire site has been redesigned to make it easier to navigate and especially to increase the usability of the ChemWriter documentation.

New ChemWriter demonstrations have been added; both these and existing demonstrations can now be found on the ChemWriter Demonstrations Page. Watch this page for new demos - especially those that show ChemWriter being used like any other HTML element - being dynamically resized, appearing and disappearing via CSS manipulation, being programmed with JavaScript, and pushing/pulling data from a server asynchronously to name a few.

For those drawing structures with ChemWriter, a concise keyboard shortcut synopsis may be useful in getting the most out of the editor.

ChemWriter licensing has been clarified on the ChemWriter Licensing Page, which discusses three options: Domain License, Subdomain License, and Custom License.

Finally, because ChemWriter is deployed as a Java applet, we thought it essential to address the issue of working with applets on the open Web head-on. The ChemWriter developer section hosts a growing number of tutorials relating to the deployment and use of Java applets, with an emphasis on doing so in heterogeneous networks. One article in particular, “ChemWriter Deployment”, outlines the preferred, standards-compliant and cross-browser method for deploying ChemWriter.

We hope you like the changes to the site. Please feel free to offer your comments and suggestions.
